Tritan BP Products:
Thank you for your interest in our product line. Our faux stone, brick, wood, and concrete products are produced out of polyurethane and generally are between a 12 and 16 pound density. Based on the scope of your project we can look at adjusting the hardness or the softness of the material upon request. If you have a particular specification of density, please let us know and we would be happy to provide a proposal for your project.
Most of our products can be produced out of a fire-rated material upon request but unless specified at the time of quoting all materials are produced from our standard polymers.
What is Polyurethane?
Polyurethane is a versatile polymer that is widely used in various industries and applications. It is formed through a chemical reaction. This reaction results in the formation of a durable, rigid, and resilient material known as polyurethane.
Here are some key benefits of polyurethane:
- Realistic Appearance: Polyurethane can be formulated to mimic the look and texture of various building materials, such as wood, stone, or architectural details. It can capture intricate details and grain patterns, resulting in highly realistic replicas that closely resemble the original materials.
- Lightweight: Compared to the authentic building materials, polyurethane replicas are significantly lighter. This makes them easier to handle, transport, and install. The reduced weight also offers advantages in terms of structural load and overall ease of use.
- Durable and Long-lasting: Polyurethane is known for its durability and resilience. It can withstand environmental elements, such as moisture, sunlight, and temperature fluctuations, without warping, cracking, or deteriorating over time. As a result, polyurethane replicas maintain their appearance and integrity for extended periods, reducing the need for frequent maintenance or replacements.
- Versatility in Design: Polyurethane can be molded into various shapes and sizes, allowing for the creation of intricate architectural details, ornaments, moldings, panels, beams and other decorative elements. This versatility enables customization and the ability to replicate specific architectural styles, historical designs, or unique features.
- Cost-effective: Polyurethane replicas are often more affordable than their natural counterparts. They offer a cost-effective solution for achieving the desired aesthetic appeal without the higher expenses associated with sourcing, handling, and installing authentic materials.
- Ease of Installation: Polyurethane replicas are typically lightweight and come with pre-formed shapes, making them relatively easy to install. They can be affixed to surfaces using adhesives or mechanical fasteners, minimizing installation time and labor costs.
- Low Maintenance: Most of our products are virtually maintenance free, but from time to time could require light dusting. If for some reason more than dusting is needed, water with a mild detergent can be used to clean the surface.
- Environmental Considerations: Polyurethane replicas can be produced with minimal waste generation. Additionally, their longevity and resistance to deterioration contribute to sustainability by reducing the need for frequent replacements.
Overall, polyurethane offers a compelling combination of realistic aesthetics, durability, versatility, and cost-effectiveness, making it an excellent choice for creating building decorative replicas.
What should I know about the factory finish?
Our products are hand finished with exterior grade water base pigments that have UV inhibitors formulated into our coloring system. We do provide custom colors and unfinished options as well.
A few things to be aware of:
- Color Application: All of Tritan BP products are hand finished by artist to ensure natural color blending and tones. Color tones are accurately applied, but thanks to our dedicated team, the color blend and transition is as natural as possible to ensure the most authentic replica possible. The colors are not applied by machine or template and thus some variation is expected and encouraged.
- Exterior Applications: Our products are produced, and hand finished and they are designed to be installed both indoors and outdoors. It's important to note that some degree of fading may occur due to factors like sun exposure, regional climate, and other environmental conditions. To proactively minimize the natural fading process that takes place over time, we highly recommend applying a light coat of UV topcoat to the surface every 3 to 5 years. The frequency of application should be based on the product's level of exposure to sunlight. This protective measure will help preserve the product's appearance and reduce the effects of fading. Prior to applying the UV topcoat across the entire product line, we strongly advise conducting a small test on a discreet location of the panel. This allows you to assess the compatibility of the UV coating with our products and ensures the desired results without compromising the aesthetics.
- Touch up kits: Touch up kits are available for purchase separately for all the colors. Standard Touch up kids include all necessary colors to replicate the desired color effect, instructions, detailing brush and wiping rag.
- Custom Colors: We have many standard colors to choose from and we also provide color matching services as well. If needing a color match, there is a minimal color lab fee. We will do everything within reason to match the color needed, but we cannot guarantee a 100% color match. Substrates and textures can make colors appear differently. Color matching typically requires an additional 2-3 weeks in production. Please note that a physical sample of the color must be sent to our facility for matching. Color matches cannot be done off a photo.
- Product Images: Computer, phone, tablets and alike have different pixel and resolution settings that can and will affect how products are displayed on the screen. We recommend requesting a sample(s) prior to ordering to ensure you have chosen the right color and texture for your project. Colors that are the same can also appear different based on the texture of the material you are selecting.
- Color Batches: Paint pigments can vary approximately 10%-15% between batches. It is recommended that customers order enough material to complete their project vs, staggering the project over an extended amount of time such as 6-months to a year. Color pigments can be slightly different from different batches and though this would not cause an issue in most cases, if needing to match an order months or years apart this could cause one to notice some variation.
How can lighting affect the colors?
Lighting and Its Effect on Paint or Stained Products
The appearance of any painted or stained product can be influenced by the surrounding lighting, whether it is indoors or outdoors. To help you understand how lighting can affect the final look of our products, we recommend the following:
- Testing Samples: When you receive your samples, we suggest holding them up or attaching them to the area where you plan to install them. This will give you a better understanding of how the product will look once it is installed in your specific lighting conditions.
The way paint colors look can change depending on the lighting in a room. Here's how lighting can impact paint colors:
- Brightness: The brightness of the light can make paint colors appear lighter or darker. Bright lights can enhance colors, making them look more vibrant, while dim lights can make them appear duller.
- Warm or Cool Lighting: Different light sources emit varying colors. Some lights have warm, yellowish tones, while others have cool, bluish tones. These color temperatures can affect how paint colors appear. For instance, a warm light can make a yellow paint color appear even warmer, while a cool light might give it a slightly greenish tinge.
- Hue Shifts: Lighting can cause a shift in the perceived color of paint. For example, if you have a red paint on a wall and the room is illuminated with a bluish-tinted light, the red may appear slightly purple or pink.
- Shadows and Highlights: The direction and intensity of lighting create shadows and highlights. Shadows can make paint colors appear darker or create variations, while highlights can make them appear brighter or more pronounced.
Considering the impact of lighting is crucial when choosing paint colors. To ensure the desired outcome, we recommend testing paint samples under different lighting sources to see how they look in various situations.
By taking lighting conditions into account, you can make informed decisions about color choices and achieve the desired aesthetic effect in your space.
Samples:
Ordering samples of our products is a crucial step in the decision-making process, and here's why:
- Assess Texture and Color: Samples provide an opportunity to see and feel the texture of the material firsthand. Our standard color names may remain the same, but the texture can significantly impact how colors appear. By examining a sample, you can ensure that both the texture and color meet your expectations and align with your project's aesthetic.
- Understanding Color Variations and Textures: While samples are cutouts of the actual product, they may not capture the full range of color variations or intricate textures. However, they still give you a reliable representation and allow you to gain insight into the overall look and feel of the product. This firsthand experience helps you make an informed decision about the best product for your specific project.
- Confirming Selection: Ordering samples in your desired texture and color allows you to confirm that you have made the right choice. By physically seeing and comparing the samples, you can better visualize how they will fit into your space and complement your existing decor.
- Accurate Color Representation: Electronic devices such as computers, phones, and tablets can display colors differently due to variations in screen settings. By having actual product samples in hand, you can avoid any potential discrepancies between the color displayed on a screen and the true color of the product
- Making Informed Decisions: Samples empower you to make well-informed decisions about your project. They enable you to assess the product's appearance under different lighting conditions and in various parts of your space. This firsthand evaluation ensures that you select the right product that will enhance your overall design vision.
By ordering samples, you can avoid any surprises and have confidence in your product selection. They serve as a valuable tool for evaluating texture, color, and overall suitability for your project, allowing you to create the desired aesthetic outcome.
